As delicate as the black-cappped chickadee appears, he is really a sturdy little bird.  In winter, he bounces around from tree to tree, seeming not to notice the frigid temperatures.  This chickadee is carved from tupelo wood.  He sits on a pine cone base which is carved from one piece of cedar wood.  The pine cone was left natural, and sealed with a clear preservative.
